Great post! One of the most important issues concerning tithing is that from the moment you put the money on the plate, you have given over your responsibility to another. This surrendering of responsibility is pervasive within the church system and a major reason why so many christians are immature.

I asked God for a 'bossy wife'. I tell her sometimes that she ticks too many boxes in that regard and she tells me to, 'suck it up'. Sherry and I read the Word and pray every morning, we commit everything to the Lord. I lead where I'm led of the Holy Spirit and she leads where she is led by the same Spirit. I could not live with a woman who would not stand up to my inconsistencies and failings and was not prepared to act when she believed in what she was doing. My wife is strong enough to do this and equally strong to follow as the occasion demands.

With pure monologues, it is very difficult to ascertain how much has sunk in. Questioning, arguing, discussion enable a teacher to assess the uptake of information. I have heard that we speak at about 125 to 175 words per minute, hear from 125 to 275 and think from 125 to 3000. That's a lot of room for distraction if the listener is not fully engaged in the process. I also believe that dialogue concerning the practical outworking must always be incorporated into the teaching, and followed up by action. If there is no action, then what is re-inforced is a non-response. And that becomes the real outcome. To know and not to do, is not to do. And this is what is wrong with so much teaching in the Body.
